The music at COYA
A celebration of Latin American music, contemporary art and culture (Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Spanish speaking Central and South America) and an exploration of its influence beyond its borders, since the days before the impact of the Atlantic Trade Triangle to today.
An example is the cross-pollination between Latin musical traditions with other cultures, the result is some really fun, exciting and quirky music. We will be oscillating from greats like Afro-Peruvian Susana Baca and Puerto Rican Ray Barretto to British greats like the Clash and Amy Winehouse, so many artists have been influenced by Latin culture and COYA will show you why that is such a great thing, giving you the best that both classic and contemporary culture have to offer.
An emphasis will be on interspersing suitable tracks by London bands and artists into the play list so that we can have live performances by these artists adding to the integrity of the artistic culture of COYA.
